The Fairwinds Art Exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April at Cowes Yacht Haven who have kindly donated the space for this event.

The Fairwinds Fine Art Exhibition is the creation of John Garlick. John was an art enthusiast and supporter of Island Artists. His main love in life, after his family, was sailing, from dinghies to racing yachts. During his last few months battling with Multiple Myeloma, he began to plan the Fairwinds Fine Art Exhibition. John’s wife Sue and his Granddaughter Beth, with Island Artist, Peter Allen are proud to have taken the baton from John, when he lost his two-year fight in September 2021.

Sue Garlick, John’s wife, comments:
“I have enjoyed the organisation of the event and getting to know the amazing artists whilst raising funds for Island causes. The first event in 2022 raised over £4,000 for the Andrew Cassell Foundation and this year we hope to exceed this amount. We are also supporting the Mountbatten Hospice in 2024 and have raised over £500 from local companies, including Wightfibre, PC Consultants, IOW Hampers, Mermaid Gin, Liz Earle, Isle of Wight Tea and Coffee Co and PKF Francis Clark, supporting the event.

A special thank you to Cowes Yacht Haven who are hosting this year’s event for us and All About Catering who are supporting our ticketed opening night.”

Artist, Peter Allen comments:

“We want to say a heartfelt thank you to the 13 artists taking part. It’s a huge effort to provide over 10 pieces of original artwork each for such an event.

All artists are Island artists who have kindly donated one artwork each for auction and as many artworks as we can fit in for general sale with 10% of the proceeds going to The Andrew Cassell Foundation.”

Join them for a welcome drink with canapes, on their opening night on Friday 26th April from 6.30pm with raffle tickets on sale for a chance to win one of the fabulous prizes donated by our generous sponsors including Spinlock, IOW Hampers, Mermaid Gin, The Garlic Festival, and more.

Each artist attending has kindly donated one piece of work for their auction. The auction paintings will be available to view from 6.30pm and auctioning starts at 7.30pm. They are happy to take Commission bids – please email fairwinds-art@acfsailing.org by Friday 26th April 12noon.

Each painting will have a reserve set by the artist, below the market value so you have an opportunity to grab some amazing original art at a discounted price! The auction is in aid of ACF and the great work they do.

All monies raised will go towards increasing numbers of people they can help. Alongside the auction will be many works of art available to purchase with a percentage of the sale going to ACF.
