Born in 1860 Rene Lalique would later prove himself to be one of the most important designers of the 20th century.
By 1885 Lalique had established his own workshop where he designed and made jewellery of great originality and outstanding beauty.
Although by 1900 his inspired Art Nouveau creations had become famous worldwide his fascination with the sculptural possibilities of glass were to lead him to even greater acclaim.
Having established his own glassworks by 1910 Lalique swiftly extended his repertoire on a grand scale to include vases, lighting, clocks, car mascots, architectural commissions and so much more.
Part One features a few memorable examples I have sold at Bonhams aided by stunning images that feature in my book ‘Lalique’ by Shire Publications.
Part Two is given over to a potentially lively interview with my former Chairman Nicholas Bonham.
