Sally Clark
I have been making jewellery for about 9 years after a lifetime working in the world of blacksmithing. I have built up a lot of knowledge and have carried that through into some of my pieces. I developed my interest in jewellery after doing several courses at a jewellery school. As a child I was often found at jumble sales buying old brooches or rings to prise out the stones and put them in a tin and look at my ‘treasure’. Today I am finding secondhand real gems and am still inspired by them.
I use recycled gold and silver, secondhand gems and lab made diamonds to make pendants, earrings, necklaces and occasionally rings. I find vintage pearls and necklaces and am restyling them into something wearable for today.
I am inspired by being at the coast, especially around the island. The movement and ripples of the waves, the beach ‘treasure’ I find, and the amazing sunsets that Gurnard is renowned for. Each piece of my jewellery is handmade by me in my studio at home. We all have to take a look at what we are doing to our world and by using reclaimed materials means we give things another chance. We have to make everything we use sustainable. I am creating unique pieces that you can wear with a clear conscience.
