Thriller 2023 French Film
Director: Justine Triet
Here is Samuel, a university lecturer with a fondness for playing loud music, who falls to his death from the window of a chalet in the French Alps which he shares with his German wife Sandra, their visually impaired son Daniel, and his dog Snoop. How has this happened, suicide, accident, murder?
This is as thrilling a thriller as thrillers can be. A study of character, of a marriage, of a child dealing with the aftermath. A trial, in which witnesses can argue with the accused and there are few objections. There are contentious exchanges and varied interpretations of “hard”evidence, which pushes the French legal system to the limit.
“Anatomy of a Fall” won the Palme d’Or and the Palm Dog Award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and Best Original Screenplay at the 96th Academy Awards. Sandra Huller (playing Sandra Voyter) was nominated for an Oscar for her performance.
The film is in French, German and English and will be screened with English Subtitles.
