Anne Toase
After a foundation year at Croydon College of Art and Technnology I went on to study for three years at Hammersmith Art College, I have been teaching since 1975. Also raising a family and combining a full time job in IT for an American computer company, while continuing to exhibit my work.
As my personal style was developing, I worked mainly in watercolour and oil. Later I came to love the spontaneity of pure pigment working with pastel. More recently I returned to oil for its richness and subtle depth of colour.
Working from life was my first love and has been my enduring passion. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a great many talented life models over the years. I continue to spend time each week in the life study honing my drawing skills. In 2017 with a return to living on the Isle of Wight, I have joined the thriving art community with some very good Life Drawing groups.
My work has been selected for exhibitions at The Mall Galleries, the Royal West of England Academy and sold to collectors in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and Asia.
