Widower Mr Williams leads a mundane, lonely life at County Hall. Bill Nighy is flawless as the bureaucrat who seeks new meaning and purpose in life when fate deals him a heavy blow.

Tolstoy’s 1886 story ’The Death of Ivan Ilyich’ is reimagined in 1950’s London. The stoic, quiet, unassuming figure of Mr. Williams is mirrored in the quiet, slow pace of the film. “Atmospheric”, “Nostalgic”, “understated” are some of the words used in reviews. “This deceptively gentle 50s-set film addresses weighty matters of life and death with a winning simplicity that is hard to resist.” (Mark Kermode).

Directed by Oliver Hermanus and written by Kazuo Ishiguro.

Film starts at 7.30pm.

Doors are open from 7.00pm for refreshments.
You are also welcome to bring your own refreshments (including alcohol).
