The Silent Book Club is being held at MAD-Aid DOT in East Cowes
Love reading? They are trialling a new Silent Book Club venue – why not pop along!
At Silent Book Club, there’s no assigned reading texts – and no set time that you must finish your book by.
All readers are welcome—eBooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books… simply bring your own book. Admission to Silent Book Club events is FREE.
Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, share what they’re reading, and settle in for an hour or more of silent, sustained reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialise – or not – it’s your choice!
At the MAD-Aid DOT, you can also purchase hot and cold drinks and snacks – or pick your next book to read from their second-hand book stall – all proceeds go to the registered charity, MAD-Aid.
Silent Book Club started in San Francisco in 2012 with a couple of friends and it has grown into a global community of readers and introverts, with more than 500 chapters in 50 countries around the world led by local volunteers.
Silent Book Club is about community, and everyone is welcome.
(This session is being held in conjunction with our MAD Scribblers Writers’ and Illustrators’ Cafe).
Everyone welcome.
